Concrete Staining In A Dentist and Orthodontist Office Dallas, TX

This week we were focussing on bringing an old dentist concrete stained floor back to life. The Floor was finished by another contractor years ago. It was in pretty good shape given the circumstances.

The “circamstances” I’m reffererring to is the type of sealer that was used. This installer had used Acrylic Sealer. There is nothing wrong with the acrylic method as long as you are going to put a water based finish over the top (we call this water wax). But some contractors fail to do this important step. As a result in the foot traffic areas of the concrete stained floor it creates a wear pattern. The reason is because the “water wax” gives the concrete floor sealer extra protection against scuff marks, scratches and friction from the shoes, thus protecting the concrete stain from “wearing off”.

We decided it was best for us to strip down the sealer and then restain the floor before going over the top with a Polyurethane sealer. We almost always use Polyurethane sealers on our interior concrete stained floors because we can always offer our signature warranty with these sealers. I have so much confident in the polyurethane sealers that I always encourage my customers to go with this type of sealer. They look better, they last longer and they are VERY easily maintained.
